Deral Boykin was born and raised in Kent, Ohio. As a youth early on it was clear that he would excel as a great athlete. After high school, he attended the University of Kansas and the University of Louisville on an athletic scholarship 1988-1993. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1993 and went on to play 4 years in the NFL. He had the privilege to play for the Los Angeles Rams, Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Philadephia Eagles. He has always had a passion for giving back and has participated in various charity events through different NFL programs. He began doing an annual Christmas toy drive 5 years ago which proved to be extremely successful and a positive footprint in charity participation. Since he was a kid, he had a passion for cool sneakers and was an avid collector. He says "There was a time in my life when I could have taken a different path, but my family and sports put me back on the straight and narrow.” He also says he was able to achieve a lot of his life goals and now its time for him to continue lending his time, resources and experience through Fly Kicks For Kids to our underprivileged youth and those kids in need of guidance. He feels obligated to do his part and now as President of FKFK, it is the time.
